I live on a private road. When we moved here it was a dirt road. It is a dead end road. From beginning to end is approximately 1 mile. About 12 years ago we paved the first half of the road from the main highway because there is a steep hill which washed out really badly often. Not only is there a steep hill which is blind from both sides there are also a couple of blind curves. Considering if you could go 60 miles an hour on this road it would take one minute to go from end to end. Logic dictates 60 MPH is not possible. Add in the fact there are an abundance of young children in the neighborhood and we have a posted speed limit. People still come in like they're in rush hour traffic in Atlanta. For me a couple of minutes are not worth dying over. I am waiting on the day two vehicles both going 40+ meet near the top of the hill or a child gets run over.:(

My first thought, spikes......., the way my damn dogs keep getting out of the yard in the winter as their electric fence can be walked over with the snowfall, I would be damn mad if someone went thru my neighborhood at a rate above 20 mph, it happens all the time, but I still get mad!

I live on a small street with 10 or so houses on it. It runs between two other little streets so it's quite tucked away which is great if privacy is what you seak. BUT...when cars come up this road, some see it as a free ticket to speeding because as far as they're concerned....what are the chances that a cop is gonna catch them, right....lol...grrrr
