Should parents tell their kids the truth about Santa?

I don't mean to pester you if that's what it seemed like I was doing, I was just trying to make a point. I may not be 100% right but I'm not 100% wrong either, I love my children and have always tried to instill in them the importance of being honest, I guess that's why I took offense. I apologize....

Alright... back on topic.

Personally, I would like my children to believe they are the ones who can make a difference and bring joy to someone's life. I don't want it to be fiction to them.

For instance, when I take them shopping to buy presents for children who need them, I don't want to have to come up with a reason why Santa doesn't bring them presents. I want them to know and understand why we are giving gifts to needy children.

And that's why I rather make it all about the Spirit..

Gifts are only extra things..

I also try to give my kids gifts year round and many times for no special occasions.. I don't want them to start to think that days such as Birthdays and Easter are the only time they should expect Sugar Rushes so they get much less and more during thru the year. As well it means I don't get a huge debt.. It also means they can enjoy the holidays like all other kids with no excess..

Using the word 'lies' sounds too heavy and out of place. If at all
something harmless has to be said with no intention of harming anyone, can\t we call it ''fib'' if at all we wanted to name it as such??:)
