Should I quit my job to study?

Uhm...but credit hours aren't the same as hours in class? I mean...I can't imagine that you have to sit at university for 72 hours a week? *g*
I for one, am just talking of "real" hours - the time I have to spend at university, sitting in courses and so on.

No, credit hours aren't hours spent in class, credit hours are just how many credits the class counts towards your degree. Here we don't count how many hours are spent in class per week, all the college cares about is that you pass your classes, and once you pass, however many credits your class is worth is put towards your degree.

Ok, now I got it. :)
In Germany we count credit points on the one hand, but also the so-called "weekly hours spent in class".

IMHO... Ef Uni and concentrate on getting a better job with better pay. I know you'll say that you need school for such but i think thats bunk.... But do what you want.

It depends on the sector of work your in, I work in a hospital theres no way I can progress unless I do a nursing degree/medicine and the like, you have to have these qualifications to be state regisitered.

Was this some sort of insult? I've dealt with college. My experience has soured me from ever going back. It's a waste of time. You shouldn't even be insulting my unemployment status buddy.

Just wondering how you seem to know that you can easily get a good job without any qualifications? Maybe you have unqualified friends or family who just walk into good jobs or something? Care to tell us how you figure out this?
If college is such a waste of time, how comes many other people come out of it better trained and able to get good jobs? I would say that your bad experience of it probably has far more to do with your attitude to it than the institution being bad.

It would be way too difficult to count weekly hours spent in class here, almost 90% of college students take their classes online. I've taken every one of my classes online except 3.

That makes sense then.
I do "attendance studies" as we call it here. That means that I have to visit the course. If I do not, I won't pass them. That can be very annoying sometimes, i.e. when you have to drive long ways and drive longer than courses that day last.

my mother's held various management positions throughout her life and never went to college. :dunno

So a birth defect is keeping you from attending college? I don't understand your reasoning. I would think that college would be a chance to prove to people that you will not allow obstacles (such as a birth defect) to keep you down.

Dana, my respect to everyone who teaches himself but here in Germany you wouldn't get a foot in any door just by stating skills that you gained by "teaching yourself".
Companies often want to see certificates and so on. I don't know whether it is the same there where you live. But here you can't become anything without documents that prove your skills.

I think, further education CAN be a waste of time if one chooses a way without future prospects. But if one chooses wisely, it can bring career advancement.

Pretty vague job description there, managing what exactly? Getting a management job in a shop, factory, restaurant ect is pretty easy to get, dosen't mean it's a good or skilled job, generally it's a few quid a week more for longer hours and being answerable to a lot more shit.

In my personal experience, having at least SOME college is better than none at all. I've not finished my degree yet, but because I show a drive and willingness to work towards something better, companies are offering me positions that normally require a degree. They are willing to hire me on before my degree is complete because they can see that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be good at a job.
