Awww..... You know I.... umm... like you..... and we did converse in that other thread....

I was being extremely helpful and all.

So don't be taking things too seriously, yes?

I'll even bet you smiled just a little when you read that, yes? ;)

I actually lolled, but responded in my usual dry tones.

Just because you can't remember it doesn't mean it didn't hurt.

I never claimed otherwise... but if I can't remember it, chances are that i couldn't remember it fairly soon after it happened. I have no memory of a memory of being circumcised, but I do have memories of being pushed down concrete stairs when I was 3 and skinning my knee really badly... I still have a scar from it.

It hasn't been proven that being uncircumcised has any benefit over being circumcised. Like I said earlier, I'm glad that my parents did that for me, I'm very happy with the way that I am.

Its VERY hard to find a doctor here that WILL do it.

Its unneccessary and barbaric IMO.

(Notice the IMO)

Where is here? I don't see a problem with circumcision, maybe because it's more or less a standard. I agree that circumcised members are more attractive, not that I am attracted to any penis other than my own. :)

I don't think it should be banned, even if I do think that it is unfair to the child. I don't know, having not experienced it and never will, if I was a dude and it happened to me, I would feel a bit devo.

lol ok, I had an image of a bunch of naked people on a table with a lone uncircumcised Spaniard off to one side being pointed and laughed at by the others.....
:24: I nearly choked while reading that! :24:

In all seriousness it really doesn't matter as much about if you agree or disagree on circumcision. I think what this is about in the OP is whether it should be banned or not. I wouldn't want another person telling me what I can and can not do to my child medically. Haven't we been deprived enough of our freedom of decision and choice already?

That is exactly what this thread is about, CHOICE, I wasn't really asking if you would HAVE your child circumcised, I was asking if you think a parent should be able to choose one way or the other, outright banning circumcision would be just as bad in my mind as making circumcision MANDATORY, I think everyone would agree that making it mandatory would be just plain ridiculous, so would banning it IMHO. Also think of the jewish people, this is part of their religion, they've been doing it for thousands of years and suddenly you want to tell them they no longer have the right to their religious rituals? That's like telling Christian's they can't have their children baptized, or telling Buddhists that they are no longer permitted to Meditate.

I think the main thing about this possible banning is taking away from the rights of the people who choose to have the procedure done if they want it for their child. To tell a Jewish family that they can't have their son circumcised is just totally ridiculous. You can't take away their Freedom of Religion and thats kinda what you'd be doing...

I agree, there are plenty of things that other cultures do that I find barbaric or morally wrong, and I get my head torn off for daring to say so, let alone if I called for their bans.

Every Religion has their things and Jewish families just happen to have this as one of their religious rituals. I still say that NOBODY should be able to take that away from them. I'd vote against the Ban if I lived there.

I'd definitely be voting against it, if a law like that passes in California it's only a matter of time before it starts happening all over the country, the last thing that we should be doing is taking away more of people's freedoms.
