Should children have to do household chores? What do you think on this? Should children have to do household chores?
Should they receive rewards for doing these things?
Is getting children to do chores around the house lazy on the part of the parents?
Children should value hard work because it strengthens them as an individual and improves their work ethic. While given them something is fine on some occasions, ultimately, you want to train them to not just do things for material gain.Yes they should, but they should get something for it. Not only would this teach the child how to maintain a house, for when they have their own, it would also teach them the value of hard work, if they were compensated.
Doing something is the best way to learn, IMO.^
i can't cook nor do laundry
and i watch my mom and I cant learn ):
Kids should do chores, with no reward (unless they do an excessive amount). they need to learn how to take care of themselves and their home so that once they're old enough to move out, they're prepared.

If I tell my kid to clean his room for $5.00, what am I really telling him? "Do the responsible thing, since I'm bribing you to do it, not because it is the right thing to do."
But see again, that's something that's expected of them. Its their room, its their responsiblity to keep it clean. However, you could get them to help you do yard work. It's not their yard, taking care of the yard isn't expected of children, but its something that they could help with if given an incentive.
They learn the value of work, they learn about nature, they gain minimal landscaping experience, and most importantly they get to spend time with their parent(s), while being active.
Have you learned some of the necessary household things like...I never really did chores as a child, but always received pocket money.
My gut instinct tells me children should do chores to help them develop a good work ethic and so on. But I didn't do chores and I work like a crazy person! Been working constantly since I was 16 and I love to work. So guess not doing chores hasn't had that effect on me.
The only thing I wish I had learned was how to save money.... I'm terrible at that.
Why not? You're old enough.I do neither of those things...not yet
