Sometimes I turn off all the lights and tvs, and I am sitting by the windows and doors with a shotgun in the dark. Hoping some fool breaks in. Break into my house u get killed, break into a school during registration and you get an education and make your own living.​

I don't get what's bad about this story. *shrugs* The guy came at her and her young child w/ a knife...I would've shot the bastard, too.

I'm glad the story clarified waht the title said, though...b/c I was going to be seriously concerned for that dispatcher's job if she actually told that woman to shoot him, LOL

She did all the right things, she put a couch in front of the door, she called 911, she had her dogs killed before she was being stalked for God sakes, she didn't take a life lightly, I say here here to her. And yes, Cam, if they hadn't come into the house it wouldn't have been a clear cut case of self-defense.

NO!!! Our operators NEVER give people advice on how to handle a situation like that. Let me put it to you this way...this business is SUCH a CYA business (CYA meaning Cover Your Ass) that even if, let's say, a hotel is on fire we don't say "get everybody out of the building!!!" We tell them to follow their emergency evacuation procedures if they have them in place. Because if we say "get everybody out of the building" they might take that as us ordering them to rescue people from a burning building and, if they get injured, they WILL sue.

So, I'll admit I assumed that it was just a random break in...but reading your comments now I see it was more...
