Ah it was the owners of the song, they were asking for too much money.
And the CBC being a publicly owned company, felt it would be a waste of tax payers dollars paying that kind of money for that ditty.

Katie you were so fucking quiet I could hardly hear!!!
I blame the camera. I used it a few days ago to record some videos and the sound was stupidly loud and now it is stupidly quiet.
