Don't forget about those who lost their lives in support of this tragedy. R.I.P.

Edit: That sounds like I am saying don't forget about the dead terrorists, but I'm not. I'm saying don't forget about the dead Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. HOOAH!

I was sitting in my living room eating cocoa puffs getting ready for school
Classes went as scheduled because school districts in california didn't seem to care about a national tragedy

We weren't sent home from school, and we are relatively close to New York. The principal actually made an announcement urging parents not to come pick up their kids so we wouldn't have low attendance.

I was in 6th grade, roaming the halls before class. I walked into homeroom to find a group gathered around a TV.

My First week in secondary school. I was too young really to understand the enormity of the whole thing, or the global implications. Today, I sat and watched the minute by minute playing of it. All of those poor poor people. I should have had family members out in NY on a business trip, but it was cancelled a week before. I still thank god for that.

RIP to all those directly or indirectly involved with the catastrophic event and to the emergency services that died trying to save those in the buildings. Hero is an understatement.

I was actually asleep and got a phone call from my mom. I work nightshift and had only been asleep for a few hours. All I remember her saying was something about a plane hitting a building, a second plane hitting the building, that we are under attack and that she's glad I'm not out there in that shit (I had rescinded an application for a Field Investigator for US Investigations a few months before when I went to work for 911). I woke up a few hours later and though "hmmm, I should probably go turn the TV on and see what she's talking about." I don't think I can put into words how it felt turning on the TV and seeing those images...I'm sure you're all right there w/ me on that one.

That night I went in to work as scheduled. One of the ladies on our shift had a son who was a pilot and he regularly flew one of the routes that was hijacked. At that point she still had no idea if her son was alive or not (he was). I remember us requesting a prayer during briefing and everybody sniffling as Mrs. Sandy said our prayer for us. And I remember that I was dispatching for the fire department and we got a bomb threat at a large factory here and EVERY SINGLE firetruck I had responded b/c, after all, I live in a town w/ an Air Force Base and we were on super high alert.

Terror alerts for AFBs were so high at that time that we actually had traffic units out in front of the base directing traffic for nearly 2 years after b/c the security checkpoints were backing traffic up so bad.

Woke that morning like any other day. My wife rolled over and said she had a bad headache and asked me to take the kids to school. I worked at an office 20 miles from home. I dropped both kids off and headed to work. I was listening to sports radio when the guy says, "Some fruitcake has hit one of the twin towers with a plane". The conjecture was, "did he not see it?" The assumption was it was a small plane. By the time I got to work they were broadcasting news and the second plane hit as I was sprinting upstairs to my office. I sat in my office alone. I cried. I called my wife and told her to turn on the TV. We sat 20 miles apart and alone only wanting to be together and hold our children. I watched and re-watched the surreal scenes as they unfolded all day. It was eerie not seeing any planes in the sky. I was filled with so many emotions it was overwhelming. A feeling of helplessness followed by anger. I will never forget that day.

i was 26 years old. i was sitting in the drive thru line at bank of america making the morning deposit for work. i was listening to 104.1 on the radio when they started talking about a plane crash in new york. when i got back to the resturant i turned the TV on and watched in absolute horror. i was on the phone with my step mom with the second plane hit the tower. when the towers started to collapse i just started crying. i was in the fire department at the time so i knew that many lives were to be lost at that moment.

I had just begun my second day of a temp job, when it happened. Normally, the computers on the floor were not to be on the internet during working hours, only during breaks. Nobody said a word when some of my co workers tuned in to the 'net and we watched the repeats of footage of the crashes. Radios on the floor were turned up so all could hear the news reports. My mind's eye saw people fleeing the buildings and firefighters running.....IN. When we watched the towers collapse, I knew I was watching who-knows-how-many lives were snuffed out.

The temp job? We have a plant here which makes components for airplanes. Boeing airplanes.

I was in my office when my boss' wife walked in and said "We're under attack". I asked what she meant and after hearing her ramble off things about airplanes and buildings I drove down the street to the gas station and everyone was glued to the TV. Couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Last year of high school. Saw the second plane hit live. I can remember saying "what the fuck" in the middle of class and my teacher agreed. What a sad day.

I was trying to get my hubby tickets to go to DC because I was getting an award and he could join me. We rarely have the tv on in the am but for some reason that morning we did. When the first plane hit we thought what the hell happened? Plane malfunction? then we saw second plane hit. I work for goverment. Went to work. My flight was cancelled, obviously, all my coworkers were glued to tv, noone did a lick of work i would suspect. we left work early. Never forget the shock, sadness and anger I felt
