They think u need to be border anorexic to be beautiful.

Not true, they WANT you to think that so you can buy their products. It's the person solely who chooses to go that way.

It's all a part of the broader spectrum. These companies make you buy these products by different means, be in TV ads, free samples in the streets, coupons in magazines and they are very clever, but it's your choice at the end of the day.

Oh I know, there was a program here a while back about Size Zero models.

I can't stress enough the dangers of being that size, in fact it's more dangerous to be that size than to be overweight in my opinion, at least not drastically overweight. Brainwashing? Possibly, but it always boils down to the same thing for me, the sheer fact that people see things on TV, in magazines, in newspapers, on fashion shows, etc etc and they think that that is the way to be, well it isn't, it's unsafe and if you think that's ok, that it's ok to be that way then you need looking at.

Media has created an image of what the supposed desired body should be and that has influenced alot of people into feeling insecure about how they should look. What it really boils down to is how you view it, are you easily influenced by others opinions etc. IMO

Is anyone else seeing an error with the poll? Apparently 110% does exist.

:24: due to the multi-answer I think.

My hero. *swoons*

As for media, now that I've delt with most my demons, I see pretty equal coverage(and PG18 lack of) of body types, last few movies I saw the women were all sorts of sizes on waist and boobs. Men too are getting wide scale spotlight.

See what you want to maybe?

Oh I definitely see a change happening in media but its going to take years to undo what has been done to the young girls that have been negatively influenced by it over the years.

Mostly me myself and I are the cause...

What you see in the mirror hear in your head is not exactly what others see or hear...

that brings a good point also do you see yourself the same way when you look in the mirror as when you look at a picture of yourself? And do you notice things about yourself that others dont notice when you point them out to them?

I know I don't see myself the same as others do. I complain about something I see and Jim will say I only notice now because you pointed it out. He says don't be so hard on yourself.

As for a mirror and a picture... not really sure.
