The dictionary defines it as: unduly conscious of oneself as an object of notice
Therefore answer 1 on this poll is correct. Personally though, I'm not self conscious, not that I think I'm perfect, I just think overall I'm an ok bloke and dont really worry about what people think of me, you cant please everyone, all the time so there's no point in worrying about it.
My SO: they look at porn & other people. I'm not good enough
:homo:Yourself is the correct answer.
I think this one would go deeper, if this is the case I think there might be relationship problems.
Oh, this is more about body image? In terms of that, I'm not really self-conscious at all. I like where my body is at. You can't make me show skin though, but that's for reasons beyond self-consciousness. :ninja
I blame self-consciousness on a lot of things. Blaming it on myself just because I am conscious of myself, I don't know, to me it is much more than that. Maybe there are people who have grown up through their lives with parents who seem to 'notice' things. I can't count how many times my mum has pointed out every time I put on weight or my legs are thick or my arse is like a duck's arse. What if they did this since you were little? And there's other things like peer pressure, bullying, the media, etc. When you're very young, and you look up to your parents, you don't have the ability to make a choice and decide, you don't have the ability to think critically.
What I'm saying is, a lot of things shape someone to be self-conscious. It is not purely the person's own fault, something made them self-conscious in the first place. If we lived in a world where everything was accepted and nothing discriminated and glorified, we wouldn't have to worry about who we are. People choose, but really, how much do they actually get a choice when so much has shaped that person to be that way? These are things that are instilled into the person, is it really so simple to just dismiss awful thoughts about yourself? No. Sounds easy, but it's not, unless you are skilled in changing your own way of thinking. Not everyone is, so therefore not everyone has a choice, which means self-consciousness cannot entirely be blamed on the person themself.
Oh, Hey Springer, could you move this to the debate section?
That would be true for the people who fall for everything they see on tv or read in mags, papers, or online. Kinda pathetic that people can not be happy with thierselves.he media is to blame for a lot of image conscious people. They think u need to be border anorexic to be beautiful.
