It is that time of year.. and everyone wants their gift..

Do you do a gift exchange where you work.. Secret santa, or white Elephant.. or do you just get that speacial person you work with something small and go unnoticed.

Where I work we are doing a secret santa, but it's little things you leave all week rather then one present presented at a a given time.

:withstupid: I'm not really into the whole Christmas thing, I'm not religious so it has no meaning to me. I have friends round and have a bit of a knees up but I can't be arsed with trees, decorations, cards and presents. I'm not being mean, I just don't see Christmas as the time of year when I have to give people cards and presents, I can do that at times which have more meaning to me.:)

I keep telling my wife that one of the reasons I married her was so that there was someone to take care of the whole social side of the family - chrissy cards & pressies, b/day cards & pressies, thank yous & all that other shit.

Haha, whenever I forget to send someone a Christmas card or whatever, my excuse is: "I don't celebrate Christmas anymore... happy Hanukkah!"

Which goes both ways, though. Matt's in charge of telling me who needs Hanukkah greetings, I'm in charge of writing and sending them (Matt doesn't even sign them; a blind dog with no legs could forge his signature). I'm almost positive I've forgotten someone.

I'm quite happy that I've stopped celebrating Christmas, actually. Hanukkah is so much more spiritually based, a lot more culturally rich.

Christmas can be just as spiritual if you let it be...people have commericalized Christmas, but there are still those of us who celebrate for the right reasons.

My wife actually loves Christmas... well loved might be better. The more commercial it gets the worse it gets. This year we have decided that we are going back to basics & will make Christmas all about the children - screw the adults.

what is a white elephant?

a person opens a random gift, Then the Next person has the option of opening a Gift or claiming one that has already been opened. If a gift has been claimed three times it is considered dead and cant be exchanged anymore.

speaking of christmas presents...you know what i hate? When you THINK you are done shopping for gifts, then you have a friend you kinda sorta dont talk to anymore and didn't put on your list...then they call you out of hte blue asking when they can stop by and bring you your present. Now I feel bad and I have to go buy her a present lol.

yeah we do that. this year though we are doing something where if you come to work and you are a girl bring a girl gift, if you are a guy bring a guy gift. we're doing this that way if someone doesn't show up at least everyone that came will have a gift.

No secret santa. Everybody's getting X-mas cards, and they're all just gonna have generic Happy Holiday greetings.

I'm done my X-mas shopping.

I don't even say Chrismas anymore. It's X-mas.
