I don't mean the seaweed you'd find on a beach, no no no, but seaweed which you cook. I had some from the chinese restaurant the other night and liked it. Pretty tasty I thought.

Ever eaten it?

There are loads of different types of seaweed, and even then there are loads of different ways of preparing it. I've had seaweed which tasted as you'd imagine it might, salty and slimey. And I've had seaweed which was like lettuce.

I like the few types I've had though, but I wouldn't make it a staple part of my meals. It's supposed to be very good for you though.

If one had eaten ice cream, jelly and salad dressings- one had ingested seaweeds (indirectly) Kelp which is a large seaweed is processed to thicken these foods.

Seaweeds are rich in Iodine and other nutrients ( goiter/thyroid disease prevention)

I've had the crunchy, salty kind a couple of times before, I always think I want it but it never tastes as good as I expect.

Like Zorak said, there are lots of different kinds. My beloved is Japanese (born & raised there, not just DNA) and cooks with it all the time. Nori, that seaweed you eat with your California roll sushi, is lots of really tiny plants that float on the ocean surface, like the green scum on a still pond. They scoop it up, roll it flat, and dry it in sheets so that we can enjoy it. (Sounds good, right? Wait'll you hear how sausage is made! ;) ) I count 6 or 8 different kinds of dried seaweed in our pantry just waiting for my beloved's magic touch to make it a delicious meal.
