Chelsea have sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari with immediate effect.

The Brazilian only took charge at Stamford Bridge in the summer and after a promising start the club have slipped to fourth in the table, seven points adrift of Manchester United.

Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Hull City proved to be the final straw for the World Cup winner and the Stamford Bridge outfit have now confirmed his departure.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) with immediate effect.

"The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.

The expectation there is so high that their current position isn't good enough. Money only buys a bunch of talented individuals, getting them playing well together is an entirely different thing. Think they cocked up by letting Jose go. Just hope they dont try and poach Zola off of us now though I cant see Steve Clarke going back after the disgraceful way they treated him over his move to West Ham.

why is it we listen to talk about the american game,we even join in with the banter at times.......yet when it comes to our game we have to put up with subtle jibes off certain individuals?

I apologize. I don't really look at the forum the threads are posted in sometimes. Thats my fault and I was just trying to be funny. Life is too short to be serious :) I usually just hit the New Posts link and often overlook the forum names.

Sack one good International manager with limited club level experience and bring in......erm....a good International manager with limited club level experience. Do Chelsea learn nothing?
I'm just glad it will put a stop to the press printing more garbage about them getting Zola, thought we'd got a break from them at the end of the transfer window.
