Interesting article. I thought nuclear fusion power plants were just a pipe dream.

I'm disappointed nobody asked about enhanced geothermal systems. I'm curious if EGS may become a practical energy source.

I agree with the statement, "We must move away from the self inflicted fear of nuclear energy." I was going to the university in San Luis Obispo 25 some years ago when the Diablo Canyon power plant started up. I was appalled by all the resistance to it. One of the girls in my dorm wanted it closed down. I asked her why. She said she was against any place that built bombs. I told her Diablo Canyon was a power plant. They didn't build bombs there. She wouldn't believe me.

The opponents of Diablo Canyon made the plant so damn expensive through underhanded tactics that it was the last one PG&E built. Now California has an energy crisis. It's hard to feel sorry for them.
