Allright, here is what is happening in this section. A science fair, yes, science fair. In an effort to promote this section and drive more folks to the occasional on topic threads I am promoting a science fair.
Here is what is going to be discussed:
Global Warming/Greenhouse Effects and you will have your choice for or against.
Here are the rules:
You are entitled to your opinion(s) however, because this is the Science Section, you will have to use citings from any variety of media, press, film, other forums etc.
All of your research must be cited, i.e. if you choose to use an article from let's say The New York Times, that article must be cited via the use of a link directly to that article, you can also cut and paste if you wish, but you have to cite the source PERIOD any evidence used that is not cited/credited will be deleted by your truly.
The presentation will be in the form of a typical research type document, you will be issued a thread by me, you can use 4 posts total, one for introduction and statement of your position on whichever side of the srgument you choose.
Two sections can be used to prove your case through the evidence you choose.
The fourth and final section will be your summary, a culmination of all of your thoughts, evidence and opinion.
One rule that will also be monitored closely, no use of anothers reearch will be allowed, I will be monitoring the posts and making sure there is no copying of anothers work/research. This will make for a more competitive feel.
Now what is on everyones mind I am sure. What is up for grabs?
Winner will be decided by use of a polling system, you will have one week fro the time I post the contestants to complete your thesis. At that time I will post the poll.
Voters will only be allowed to vote once, no double tapping or multiple votes for one person, no voting for two different folks. If I catch this happening the votes(s) will be subtracted from the final tally.
The vote will be up for 48hrs.
The winner will recieve the following:
2,000 rep points.
A title of his/her choice at no cost OR
You can take the 1,000 rep points instead in lieu of a title change.
The winners work will then be stickied in the Nature sub-section for permanent display.
The bonus!!!
If whom ever wins by recieving 100% of the votes, you will be given an additional 1,000 rep points!!!
So there is a possible 4,000 rep points at stake for the winner!
How to compete?
P/M me and tell me which side of the aisle you will be on, you have until the 6th of January to do so. As many people who want to compete can, no limit on contestants, but there will be only one winner.
In the event of a tie, I will ask an admin to cast the final vote (most likely Tim).
LET'S DO IT!!!
