Paddling in 2nd and 3rd grade is a little extreme, I think. My kid didn't really have any discipline problems in elementary school. But now he is in 7th grade, Middle School and a teenager. There are times at home when I feel that I just want to break him in half. He thinks he knows more then me and thinks he's smarter then me. What's worse is he weighs almost as much as me, 210+. Sometimes I feel like buying a couple pairs of boxing gloves and going a round with him in the front yard, but he's only 13 years old.

My 9 yr old is like that. Just here recently, she thinks she is always right. Rolls her eyes, stomps her feet, says "whatever" all the time and like to argue. Alot! She thinks she is better than most people and I hate seeing her act like this. I guess its all a part of her growing up but I sure dont remember acting like that for my parents. Respect is one thing that we are going thry with her.
NO!! i taught school . . . i'd beat the sh*t out of the little fu*kers if i could . . . . no, i really LOVE children, but i did have trouble with the parents. And, by NO means am i attacking MOST of the parents. . .it is jsut bad when some families consider the school to be the 'disciplinary model' for the home . . . that is why i changed professions. . . .
Heck no!!, We never acted that way toward our parents. I don't know about you, but I would have been picking my self up off the floor if I even talked back to my parents.
This new generation is different, less respectful. I used to think i did something wrong with my kids, but then I found out that the entire generation as a whole is blatently disrespectfully.

Respect is lacking in the kids and the parents now days. Not all but a lot of parents dont respect there children and if the parents dont respect them then they wont respect there parents. When I was growing up I rarely got in trouble enough to warant a but woopin but when I did it hurt, the spanking wasnt all that hard now that I think back on it but it was more the scaulding. I tried not to disapoint my parents.
My dad and I where having a conversation the other day about how stupid kids are. Its true, they dont think things through all the way cause they just dont have the experience to understand what might hapen if you do something. I will use myself for an example cause this was really one of my stupider moments in life. I was like 5 or 6 years old and I had gotten up one morning earlier than my parents. I was diging around in the living room and found a pencil that had been lost. I thought I would surprise my parents with my discovery and hid it again where I would be able to whip it out when they woke up and do the whole look what I found thing. Well a while later they woke up and I had forgotten all about the pencill. My dad came over to sit down on the couch and when he sat down I quickly remembered the pencill that I had hidden between the couch cooshions when my dad jumped up hollering with a huge bloody hole in his but. The pencill had gone in and broken off and he had to go to the hospital to get it removed. I never really got in trouble for that cause my ententions where good but I just lacked the ability to forsee what might hapen if someone sat down where I had placed the pencil.
