Police say he was going at an excess of speed of 130mph around a bend...

Considering he's familiar with the area I think alcohol was very much the factor

Dude if I had a Porsche....

Toxicology reports show he was more than twice the limit...so...yeah.:thumbdown

Sad, but its lucky he didnt take out another innocent driver as well.

Toxicology reports won't be back until 4-6 weeks....

You'd what?

Heck, you don't need a 100k plus car to go over 100 mph. Hell, a leftover $21,750 2007 V6 Honda Accord Coupe will do 130 mph tacking around 4,300, but granted, that is on a couple of miles on straightaway (although you don't need a couple of miles of straight road for the Honda, when you're going over 100 mph, if you have any type of curves, you DAMN well better know what you're doing and not assume just because it's a great car it will handle itself). That is also NOT driving in the car in the %^&*** dark with a couple of drinks in you.

A very long time ago I took some classes at West Chester, and rode Rt 322 frequently at times. Generally speaking, Pennsylvania roads are not roads you'd want to trust your life on (unless Pa has really improved their roads, but being up there last weekend, I hadn't really seen any improvements).

Anyway you cut it, as previously mentioned, you don't need to be a rocket scientist by looking at the damaged 911, knowing the accident occurred around 0300, and knowing the type of road the accident occurred on, that the driver of the 911 was an idiot whose only saving grace was that they only killed the poor fool in the passenger's seat.

Oh, lets not forget that on of the "victims" made his money by making a jackass out of himself, chances are you don't need Colombo on this one (excluding the drivers apparent history of driving infractions).

Oh well, I'm just glad he didn't kill any innocent people. I have no sympathy for him or his pasanger who willingly got in a car driven by a drunk.
Hopefully some good will come of this and it will be a sobering reminder for all his fans of the dangers of drink driving.

Off the subject a little...but toxicology reports and blood alcohol are 2 different things. What they are reporting now (statements given by the police working the case...not rumor) are the results of a blood alcohol test. Toxicology reports, which take 1 - 2 months, will tell if there is anything else in his system such as illicit drugs, pills, etc.

I never quite understood the flurry of "you can't say alcohol was involved in this crash until the toxicology reports come in!" sentiments I've seen online...it's like...those pictures really said what this BAC report didn't need to say.

ok - thanks for clearing that up :)

The news article I read said that the toxicology report wouldn't be out until 4-6 weeks and it wouldn't be until that time that they would be able to know if drunk driving played a role in the accident.

I found this today:

Although there has been heavy speculation as to whether the group's night of partying had a direct influence on the fatal crash, the tragedy has been labeled an 'Auto Accident' rather than a 'DUI,' pending the results of a toxicology report.

Both Dunn and Hartwell died at the site of the car wreck. Dunn's vehicle hit a guardrail on Pennsylvania's Route 322 at around 2:38 AM Monday morning before careening off the road and into the woods where the car burst into flames. Dunn's autopsy is currently underway to discover if alcohol did, indeed, play a role in the death of the two young men.

Still it's a huge shame, he was an absolute legend.

No disrespect, however Ryan Dunn doesn't exactly fit the bill of a legend in my mind.

When I think of legends I think of people who defied odds and worked for something greater than themselves. That may not be Merriam-Webster's definition, but it's mine, and Ryan Dunn didn't do anything worth a shit IMO, and I don't see all the fuss about his death. Another drunk / dumbass celebrity dies in an accident they caused, the end. Call me cold or insensitive, that's my POV. :dunno

Rest in Peace, but not because he was some great human being, but because people don't deserve to have their loved ones taken from them without notice.
