Running barefoot?

I've never had the chance to do it outside of the beach but I was watching a documentary about a tribe in Mexico who does it and they apparently have incredible endurance but it seemed like running barefoot was key as well as it actually helps avoid injury and fatigue.

Curious if it anyone here had done it on a serious level.

I haven't done it mainly because that would be unbelievably painful in my area. I do know that there are those horrible looking toe shoes that are supposed to mock walking or running barefoot. I think there is some logic behind it.

the Mexican tribe you speak of are not a great example

their diet and lifestyle have as more to do with their running ability that the sandals they wear

Yeah I have heard a lot of people swear by those Vibram Five Finger shoes, you can get them off places like 6pm.com but they are a little tricky in sizing but they have all sorts of varieties for a wide range of activities
