I don't understand...my Android had an option to turn off the shutter sound. Is it not under options on your camera???

Good find then.
:)

Not all androids have the option to turn off shutter tone. With mine there is no option to pick the sound you want or to silence it and its rather loud.Regardless of volume settings.
I dont mind a quiet confirmation tone to let me know the pic was taken/ but this mimics a very loud mechanical camera {I guess they were going for cool factor}.
Its embarrassing at an event...people look at you "like really, how about choosing something more quiet"

Lets say you want to get a pic of a kid with the puppy laying on the kid...taking the pic will wake the kid and the pup...so I cant always use it at home either.

I've been looking for a good root for my Axiom with no avail... The last Android software update loaded more useless fucking apps... I don't use Zappos and have no interest in playing Uno LOL

Pretty sure you can freeze hide the apps on the axiom without root since it has a new operating system.

All of my Androids were and are rooted. Once you experience it, it's hard to go back.
CyanogenMod for the win!

I have a rooted Nexus S with Cyanogenmod 10.1 and I've never encountered a problem during the rooting process. You should read carefully about it though, it's no easy task.

To begin, "rooting" gives you full access to system files and more control over your phone. For instance, you can add custom themes, change your recovery image, alter your bootloader, alter the "toolboxes" so the Linux system operates more efficiently, and add Linux Binaries.

After you root you will be able to put special apps on your phone such as Super User which allows certain apps to access root privileges. Once you have Super User, you can install and use other apps to control the start ups of other apps, limit the running of certain memory draining apps to increase battery life and responsiveness, and install either wired tethering or wifi tethering. Also, finally, you can download an app that reboots your phone for you.

Another great tool through rooting is you can backup your files and ROM onto your SD card.

Also, through rooting you have the opportunity to dramatically change the look and feel of your phone. As mentioned above you can install customized themes onto your phone. Another great advantage is you can install custom made ROMs, kernels, and other files to enhance the way your phone works, looks, and feels.

I think rooting is just keeping your phone vulnerable to some online threats! :p

Particularly about rooting, recently I have rooted my phone operating on Jellybean. It enhances the power of your smartphone for sure, but a risk factor is involved too.
After rooting your phone, you should always be careful about what you are going to install in your phone. Provided you take sufficient care, rooting will definitely be a fun job to do and the phone will also perform better afterwards.

Just make sure that you are following the rooting guide from a trusted or popular website.

As someone who has rooted phones and installed millions of different roms as well as recovering "bricked" phones, let me tell you: it is very, very hard to brick a phone. There is much misinformation out there scaring people out of rooting their phones due to the fear that it will brick their phone. Trust me, the chances of that happening just from rooting are slim to none. Bricking may happen with much more complex stuff such as installing roms through clockworkrecovery but even then, 99.99% of the time you should be able to recover your phone back to stock. Hit the xda forums corresponding to your phone to find out more about how to root your phone. There's a treasure trove of information over there regarding phone customization.
