Last month we went to Borders' because I had a gift card ($10) and that day we got a chance (Mom, me and Jerry) to go there to use it. Well, at first I had no idea what to buy, but then I wandered over to the books that I loved: the Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and House of Night. Well of course, I wanted to read the Vampire Diaries, the second book, cause I read the first one, so I showed it to Mom. It was under $10. But she didn't approve of it because it was a 'love' novel. I don't understand what she has against love novels. I just like reading books like the Vampire Diaries, but what's wrong with that?

I don't understand. It's just a book. It's like she's preventing me from falling in love or something

I still can get books from the library, but I don't think the library has the second book of Vampire Diaries, and I would have to eventually return it. I'll have to get it some other way without Mom interfering

she wants to keep you locked away in your room until you turn 18....and even then she will have to think about giving you the keys to the castle...

You should say something then.

It may seem daunting, but ask your mom why you're not allowed to read romance novels. If you feel that you should be allowed to read them, have a conversation with her and demonstrate that you're mature.

Worse she can say is 'no'.

Tell your mum it is more productive for you to read romance novels than it is for you to spam up the internet with pointless junk.

This just gave me an interesting question.

Jess, it's interesting how your mom won't let you read romance novels but allows you to spend a lot of time on the internet where there is worse stuff to be found.
