BOSTON, Mass - A teenage girl is recovering after being shot in an alleged road rage incident on Interstate 495 in Merrimac, Ma Sunday afternoon.
State police said troopers responded to a call on the northbound side of the highway at 12:17 p.m. where they found a 16-year-old girl had been shot once in the upper arm.

The victim, from Limington, Maine, was taken to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport with non-life threatening injuries. Her identity has not been released.

Police said the girl’s family members, who were in the vehicle with her, reported the incident as road rage.

Authorities are now searching for a man and woman in a white Honda Accord with tinted windows and a red, white and blue registration plate.

Police said a male passenger in the car is the one that allegedly fired the bullet that struck the teen. He is described as a light-skinned African-American or Hispanic male with short hair, and wearing a gray T-shirt and sunglasses.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the State Police Barracks in Newbury at 978-462-7478.

What about the story makes it unbelievable??? :dunno

The dude that shot her wasn't behind the wheel. I usually associate road rage with the people behind the wheel. Not passengers. Sounds like some big bad thug lost his cool.

I have always said Mass. drivers are the worst I've encountered, everywhere..... ugh, I'd hate to think that this is something I need to be afraid of happening on my morning commute.

I've found that Michigan drivers are horrible as well. I think every state has their fair share of stupid drivers. Several years ago I had to swerve to miss a car that ran a stop sign in Dublin, GA...at which point he promptly rolled down his window and shot me a bird. :24:

Yep, they're bad...but the drivers here are the worst. We have a show "Canada's Worst Drivers" and the "winner" last year was from here, the producers came here for contestants because we're known for our horrible driving ability...pretty sad, lol.

Tell me again why it's such a great idea for civilians to have guns.

Funny.

Went on vacation last week and didn't take a gun. Personally, when I carry I'm VERY careful of my actions as I don't want to escalate the situation. Some day last week, at night, I went out to tell some yahoo's that setting off fireworks on public property is ILLEGAL. Normally if I had a gun, I would just call the police and let them handle it.

Be willing to bet that the owner of that gun had it illegally.

Same story with the college student caught with a gun recently posted here. Police catch people having guns illegally and they don't throw the book at them and lock them up.

once again Dana finds a news story that he thinks is newsworthy. but alas, it is a tiny little blip of life....like a car accident you have to see, but soon you pass it, see what happened, assume what happened... and go on with your life...

Panacea is also a mich driver of some repute

I'm a pretty aware driver, though I doth have a foot of lead. I use my turn signals and try to keep the dick moves (cutting off, driving down a lane about to end) to a minimum.

Overall I'd say we're pretty angry in Michigan, so the driving conditions are tense.

LOL I just know that I've had driving experience in NJ/PA/DE/NY/CT/VA/NC and I've never ever seen as much aggression as here in MA, lol. I feel like I've become a worse driver living here!

I might be being stupid here, I have no knowledge whatsoever of guns, but I'm not understanding why with a gun you call police but without a gun you go tell them off? Surely you'd be better with the gun to tell them to quit and without a gun call the police??

I took him to mean that he did not like to put himself in situations where he was at-risk of losing his temper, based on this statement:

"Personally, when I carry I'm VERY careful of my actions as I don't want to escalate the situation."

Partially correct.

When I'm armed, only one time in my life did I make a mistake where it could of been construed as myself escalating the situation. I honked a horn to a bunch of wannabe harley riders who tried to scare the shit out of my dog when they were next to my truck at a traffic light. I realized right then once I honked the horn that I was wrong and was grateful those "bikers" didn't want to escalate the situation (I not only had a sidearm but a long semi auto rifle with a bunch of rounds LOL).

Say I'm driving while armed and someone cuts me off, honks their horn and gives me the finger. IF I react by giving some italian sign language and that person gets pissed off and blocks me in my car and comes after me (in a fit of road rage) and I feel I need a weapon for protection and end up shooting that person (if I'm lucky enough to hit them), one could argue that by my actions of giving some sign language contributed to the escalation of the situation and I could be held responsible for the use of lethal force. Fact is I have no clue who is "half cocked" out there, and I honestly don't feel like making the news.

I'm not so worried about my own actions, but the actions that may be took by others, and how I would then have to respond to those actions (of others).

When carrying a gun, you should NEVER contribute to the escalation of a situation where you may need your weapon to defend your life.

I went outside to tell those people that shooting off fireworks on city property is illegal. Now, unarmed, if someone wanted to come after me and use physical violence, I really didn't care. However, if I went outside to tell those people what they were doing was illegal and someone decided to come after me and I felt I would of had to use my sidearm to protect myself, one could argue that I should of called the police in the first place, and that if I never would of went outside to begin with, I wouldn't of had to use a weapon to defend myself. Kind of BS to some extent, but if you ever discharge a firearm in your own personal defense, chances are you will be heading to court. The less actions you take that reduce the chances of needing that firearm increases the odds that you're going to be off the hook.

That said, in my own home, all bets are off:24:

Road Rage ...

A perfect example of how some Humans will sometimes believe they are in the right no matter what. A rather childish mindset being that accidental cut-offs and the like do occur. No big deal.

However ... it is difficult not to become pretty angry at those idiots that weave in and out of lanes INTENTIONALLY cutting off everyone that is on, apparently, THEIR road.

As to the story, I have definitely witnessed passengers who are the ones being mouthy and flipping the bird while the driver is not interested in being confrontational over something trivial.

You see this is why Zimmerman's situation got out of control I think. If he had not been carrying I don't think there would have been a death. I know I wasn't there and yes, Martin did beat Zimmerman, but I just don't think Zimmerman would have pursued Martin if he didn't have a gun...........

I'm glad Joe has the sense to know he does have to take extra care when he has a gun....... I too have a gun and I will only use it in the house....for one thing, it's unlicensed ;)
