I'm going to post a couple more pictures tomorrow or so of the ice on the river nearer to me that we checked out on the ride home. They should give you an idea of how fast the ice was moving.

I think the flow rate is like 10-15 mph on that stretch of the river

It is damn fast I know and you would not want to attempt to dive into it unless a really good swimmer

I'm hoping that the 2 pictures I'll post tomorrow will show just how fast. I took a shot before the ice moved in and as it moved in..... The shots were only a couple of minutes apart. It was very cool to watch the ice travel like that.

I can't believe the difference though between today and yesterday. Yesterday there was ice as far as you could see in either direction. I have got to start carrying my camera with me.

Okay...... Here are the shots I took yesterday... The first shows hardly any ice flowing by the bridges.... The second shot was taken only a couple of minutes later and gives you an idea of how fast that area got more ice from the lake.

That's a lot of ice. I'm glad I don't live around rivers that freeze anymore. That sicks. Not so much the ice sucks but the stinkin' months that it takes to make it hard and how long it stays sucks.

It's nothing compared to what was there before I took pictures.

I take it you're not an ice fisherman......

That river moves so fast that the ice usually is not a problem.

Unless it gets jammed up. :D
