one tim I went to the Outback and was accused of putting a piece of plastic in my own food (to get a free meal)....yeah...I would want to sabotage my own dinner....right....

Hey, it happens. I worked a very upscale resort one summer in college and the server caught a guy putting a fly in his food. She busted him and he even admitted it..said he did it all the time.

I used to work as a waitress so I do tip well for good service but I won't tip well for bad. It's damn hard work and now that you get taxed on your tips (which was the only good thing about working as a waitress) Do tip your wait staff folks if she/he is any good.

I have had some bad service. I do have one girl friend I hate going to a restaurant with though. If she orders a steak she very loudly repeats makes sure it's well done, I mean no pink whatsoever and everything she demands loudly and she won't tip unless I nag her too. I imagine they might spit in her food and hope they don't in mine just being near her I bend over backwards to be extra nice to the staff when I dine to staff with her its so embarassing, otherwise she treats people nicely................so strange

I have a friend like that too, I refuse to go out to eat with her now, I get too embarrassed. I often wondered if servers do things to people's meals that are that rude.

I try to understand that, when eating in any place, humans are cooking and serving the food. I always figure if my food comes out pretty close to how I like it, I'm fine with it. If the server is truly trying to provide decent service, I consider it a good experience. However, if I order french fries and get hashbrowns, ummmmm......... take it back and bring me what I ordered. The server is the last link of quality control when the food comes out of the kitchen. The ticket should be compared to what's on the plate and the correction made before the plate comes to the table. Failure to do so get a ding in the server's performance.
I could go on, but, let me say that it takes quite a bit to make me consider lowering my tip to the server. They have a tough job and I try to be the customer they LOVE to see come back into the joint.

My family used to eat at Friendly's a lot. That's the place to go if you like waiting an hour for your food!

There is a restaurant around here called Malibu and its awful. I ordered "Fresh Fruit" that was clearly from a can and soggy. My one friends breakfast had a hair in it and my other friends food had a big piece of plastic in it.
The waitress just said "Oh" when we told her. Not the best food or customer service. :/

OMG, I totally forgot about a night that my cousin and went out. We were at TGIF's @ the casino in Halifax. We were only seated a few mins when we noticed a mouse run across the floor. We didn't know what to do, we didn't want to make a big fuss, but we wanted to give the server a 'heads up' in case someone saw it and started screaming, lol.

So we told her and she said..."oh that's nothing, you should see the kitchen". Ummmm....needless to say, we left, hahaa.

Maybe the server was kidding about the kitchen, Aeval? Maybe not. I don't blame you for amscraying the vicinity though.

I had the salad bar and southwest spring rolls at Ruby Tuesday this past Tuesday night in Morgantown WV. Everything seemed fine but my co-worker and I both got sick within 10 minutes of finishing our meal. The hotel was across the street and I didnt think I was gonna make it back without collapsing.

Can you get symptoms of food poisoning that quickly? For me, it's always been the next day.
yes you can! it depends on what kind of bacteria is causing the illness (they talked about it in microbiology in school) so Im gonna say it was from your dinner not your lunch
hope youre feeling better

Poor service is a HUGE pet peeve of mine....were you there close to closing time, Fred? Not that it should really matter, but that might have been the case.

No. They were suppose to be opened later. They offer $5 appetizers after 9pm to drum up business. We were barely after 9 getting there.
