I've lost well over 100lbs without ever setting foot in a gym, and I work full time and attend graduate school full time with long ass commutes, family drama and a puppy in my sole care. It's hard to balance everything and keep my obligations fulfilled but I truly have to admit to myself that every single day I have at least 10-20 minutes every day I can dedicate to some sort of act of fitness, and if I tell myself I don't have any time at all, I'm lying.

That's been the thing I've had to keep in mind. I have to make exercise a priority, and when I do, it gets done.

When you work odd shifts like I do, I cant commit myself to the gym on certain days which upsets me. I always seem to have so much to do on my days off and the gym is not a priority. Plus I am so tired from work that a lot of the time I just crash.

I know that deal... It's my destiny to have a beer gut, and be a smelly old fart.. I am a truck driver with screwed up hours 1 am start one day... 3 am start the next. Once I hit my forties it was supposed to be all downhill.
However I have decided to Fuck destiny. I don't make all my workouts, and they are not nearly as intense as they used to be, but I can still press more than my 24 year old son. :tooth

(although he doesn't throw mud when he presses)

Don't beat yourself up if you cant do it the way you'd planned. That kind of stuff lingers, and leads to depression. Try to sneak in some crunches before you go to work. Something small like that can really help you feel better and maybe change your outlook just a little bit at a time..

I know you're trying to be positive and all, I work 12.5hr shifts, on my feet all day. I get up with enough time to shower and eat. I need to lose a bit weight but I will do it when I get a habit going, currently working on it in baby steps.

It sucks to have a fitness goal and give up on it. The feeling of failure for me is the worst, and I have failed many times thanks to my crappy profession. I know for me
I just have to find little things to motivate myself. For instance my abs suck. I have a situp bench collecting whatever kind of dust imaginable less than 4 feet from me,
as I procrastinate on this box. I subscribed to a fitness thread on this site pledging to do 1500 situps on that thing by the end of the Month.

I hate that bench and I may not make it... but I sure as hell am going to do more situps on that thing in March than I would have otherwise.

I don't mean to sound like some kind of "positive gym nancie" (I hate assholes like that) I just think we're all in the same boat. We can serve each other well by trying to support one anothers'
progress while the resolutionists quit and choose to stay in bed.

Now I am afraid I have a date with an ugly incline bench. (I will be doing sit ups till I pass gas) :p

Someone hardcore would tell you to wake up earlier and fit it in anyway. Annoying to hear but it's true. That's how really successful people live. Haha I'm not really that driven, I prefer the comforts of mediocrity :p
