Foursquare is gaming and we are only focusing on the social side of people meeting. The grand vision being to extend online communities offline in a comfortable way.

It's hard for a company to do everything e.g. Facebook could not crush twitter even though Twitter is just a status update. Facebook has had that for a while. Plenty of other location based companies out there that are growing rapidly.

The original focus was "Vote with the crowd where to go tonight" e.g. students hang out with students and not a pub full of bankers etc. We might switch back to that. A video we did explaining it is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD2FVkwlE2s

Right, I'm off to a meeting full of london competitors! If you have any thoughts, please go for it and I'll catch up with you later.

My thoughts off the top of my head:

Too much use of the wording 'students'. Either it's entirely aimed at students, which I don't get the impression it is, or it's aimed at everyone, in which case use broader terms to make everyone feel included. The last thing you want is people logging off because they think it's something purely for teens.

I do get a more positive idea of what you're aiming for with this than your explanations here - I like the community ideas and that people can arrange events through this.

HK, if I can convince you, i can convince the world :)

Good point on students. I was wary of it but being wary and doing something about it are two different things. I wanted to use students as an example group and hoped people understood that but on a fast flick through of the demo, which is what most people do, it will give the impression it's for students... something more generic but intuitive is appropriate and i'll figure it out

our explanation is the biggest problem. Being technically minded i've come to appreciate copy and marketing skills as well. Thanks again.
