Can some of those in favor of more gun regulation show me how this would have helped during the most recent massacres.
You guys make it sound like there are no background checks...Can you show me states that do not have background checks.

Here's an idea. Let's pray to God for a flood to wash the Earth clean and start from scratch? :p

Sounds pretty conservative to me...are are you being sarcastic and claiming this is what the republicans want?
If so...what Republican official stated this and who here has supported such statement.

For sure...hopefully Mia can compile us a short list of honest democrats.
One would also have the same trouble creating a list of Honest Republicans....however they would come closer to fitting the description of honest.

As near as I can tell Washington DC is the only place where background checks are not required. :mad

I dont know what their gun laws are though, but I think they have plenty for the citizens. :(

The companion question is why have guns been raised to 'golden calf' (an idol to be worshiped) status? Do they really not want background checks? Do they really not expect gun dealers to keep records and inventory of dangerous items? It boggles my mind.

do you really think background checks are going to stop criminals and the insane from getting them?

You are actually arguing against background checks in general or just for someone who wants to buy large magazine assault rifle? :smiley24:
Do I detect a pattern? :24:

Allen, your last statement isn't fair. It wasn't phrased as a question. :D

So the government can take your guns, what else? This is one of the reasons why my visits to this forum are becoming more infrequent.
 Dammit!

I know we had this conversation before, but I can't find the thread. Can you?

btw, You're one of the main reasons I keep coming back.

No, he's not. He's just naive enough to believe that elected politicians (well, Dems, anyway) are wise enough to decide who deserves to have 2nd Amendment rights and who does not, and he's gullible enough to believe that they wouldn't abuse any power given to them.

Maybe this will help.

Pay attention to what they are doing instead of what they are saying.

Since the big loss in November, the GOP claimed it would reach out to women, minorities, and would shift the focus from social issues to jobs and the economy.

Yet, nationwide, they GOP has:
  • passed or pursued bills to further restrict women's access to abortion
  • reaffirmed their position on limiting or banning same-sex benefits/marriage/unions - going so far in some cases to associate homosexuality with beastiality or pedophilia.
  • used racially insensitive language regarding hispanics and have reaffirmed their distaste of immigration reform
  • largely refused to discuss common sense gun safety reforms
  • made every effort to hold the legislative process hostage
  • continued to pursue voting restrictions
  • wasted tax payer money on unconstitutional nullification laws regarding healthcare
  • wasted tax payer money on drug testing for welfare
  • wasted tax payer money to unconstitutionally establish a state religion in North Carolina
  • etc...

They are continuing to alienate their party with an ever-changing U.S. population and they are big frick'n liars hoping the stupid will continue to support them while sucking in new stupids. ;)

I do hold the Dems to the same standard, but what I was expressing there is an opinion of the GOP. All of their BS positions preceding the last Presidential cycle had as much to do with losing as their candidate.

Washington Lawmaker Introduces Religious, Gay, Discrimination Bill- Yes, GOP, keep driving hard. Show what your made of.

Legislation proposed in Washington state this week would allow businesses to deny service to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population and others, based on religious differences.

Under the terms of the bill, businesses in the state could refuse service to anyone whose religious or philosophical beliefs differ from their own. They could not, however, refuse service based on areas protected under federal law, which does not include the LGBT community.

The legislation was sparked by a lawsuit filed in April by the American Civil Liberties Union against a florist in Richland, Wash., who, based on her religious beliefs, denied service to a gay couple who were getting married, The Associated Press reports.

State Sen. Sharon Brown (R-Kennewick), the lead sponsor of the bill, told The Associated Press that religion needs to be protected by the state government.

"There's a glaring lack of protection for religion in state law," Brown said.

The portion of the state's non-discrimination statute that Brown seeks to amend includes sexual orientation, but is limited to specific areas and does not include service in businesses. The areas protected include employment, hotel stays, the purchase of real estate and insurance, and the use of credit cards.

It is unclear if Brown's proposals would now allow hotels to deny rooms to LGBT individuals. Brown was not available for immediate comment.

In her legislation, Brown writes that many people come to the United States to escape religious discrimination and her bill is a way to preserve religious freedom.

But opponents of the legislation, including Equality Washington, noted that Brown's bill is seeking to create a new class of discrimination in the state instead.

The federal gov't has no business legislating anything regarding a small local flower shop. There's no interstate commerce going on there.
