Does anyone know what a refrigerator defrost drain heater is?

I didn't, until today.

We got home from our road trip to find the bottom part of the refrigerator not working. The top/freezer part was working, but had frost in it (this is a frost-free model). Apparently over time the drain between the freezer and the refrigerator gets waterlogged and ends up getting blocked with ice. Without the ability to drain, the freezer gets frost and the refrigerator quits working.

Moral of the story. If you have a frost-free refrigerator/freezer, go make sure the drain isn't blocked. And while you're at it, clean the condenser coils - they can get dirty over time and cause the compressor to overheat.

and now you know :)

I didn't- but I've had that probably before. I came home one day and my freezer was covered in condensation! I had to turn it up to make it work again. It was weird.
