All the pictures of me as a child & my firsts were all recorded on black & white film. Heck, part of them might have been drawn on cave walls. I am older than most here.
When my daughter turned one, VCR's were popular and I did not own a camcorder. I borrowed a VCR camcorder from the VCR rental place. The thing was huge and I watched the whole day thru a small viewfinder. Unfortunately, the battery was not charged so I could only record as far as my extension cords would allow. I did record the day and swore I would own my own before her next birthday. By the time my kids were in grade school I bought a Hi-8 recorder. Now everything is digital and you can record stuff on your phone.
