Really scared right now

Last night @ 7:00 or so, me and my husband were watching the movie Blow when all of a sudden we heard this loud "kaboom". We just stopped and looked at each other and said that that sounded like a gunshot. Keep in mind that we live out in the woods and the only people even close to us is our neighbor who we have had problems with and have been to court with numerous times. So my husband yelled at me to drop on the floor and he dropped to the floor and called the sheriff from his cell phone. The sheriff showed up about 5 min later and we got up and showed the sheriiff where the noise came from and it went thru the house, thru one of my cabinets and have no idea where the bullet ended up landing or exiting. I have a HUGE hole in my cabinet now. But what pisses me off the most, is what if one of us was in that cabinet at the time and we would have gotten our head blown off! The sheriff said that there was nothing he could do since we have no way of knowing who did it since we didnt see anyone.
Ya know, it very well could have been an accident. Someone could have been out in the woods shooting at an animal and the bullet may have richoted and came flying thru our house. But what if someone did this shit on purpose? For what reason, I do not know. Im just paranoid right now. Really scared and cannot sleep.

Wow... that is really scary. Im sorry to hear that. It sucks to have shitty neighbors, and to be paranoid in your own home. Im glad noone was hurt.

Weren't you hving troubles with your next door neighbors about your dogs? I think I would go on a search for that bullet (look in the back of your cabinet real good) and see if their finger prints are on it. At the very least they can run a check to see if they own guns and if they do .. they can try to match the stri's up.

God that would have FREAKED me out.

Yep we have had problems with her for about the last 8-9 months or so. We had court with her 2 wks ago and she got royaly pissed when the judge wouldnt take the dogs away (she almost got thrown in the holding cell because of her mouth) She had told us that she wasnt gonna stop until the dogs are gone. And it pissed her off when the judge wouldnt take them away. She is really starting to freak me out

If I were you .. I think I would go file a restraining order on her. Seriously. It would help you tremendously should any problems arise in the future.

What I was told when we were in NJ was that you couldnt get a restraining order unless it is your husband or boyfriend. I dont buy that though. I tried to get a restraining order against my neighbor and that is the info I got... which it sounds like a bunch of crap to me. My neighbors were in a gang, and had their house raided several times. I thought for sure I wasnt going to survive in that house. But it certainly cant help for you to try and get all the information you can about getting one. Ask the cops to patrol your road. Set up a video camera inside looking out...but make sure its not visible.
