I watched one episode of Big Brother with my Dad (he is obsessed with reality TV) and hated it too.
I watch some reality TV but most of it I don't care for.

I like some of them. Big Brother is one of my favorites and im anxiously waiting for next weeks season premier. (thats America's BB. From what i understand, its a different show than whats on across the pond)

Amazing Race, So You Think You Can Dance, and DanceMoms are my other favorites

Shows like the bachelor/ette, and any 'find my real love' shows, teen pregnancies, etc. are just stupid!!

This is a really terrible poll to try to lump all reality shows into one bag. Please people think it out before you post a poll.

I can't vote, but I can tell you Pawn Stars and American Pickers are among the best and Real House Wives of... and any reality show that portrays itself as reality but in actuality is reenacted with actors is among the worst. :)

There are two elements to a reality show - the reality of the task at hand [for example - driving trucks on frozen lakes]
and the reality of the personalities involved [i.e. the father/son relationships at Orange County Choppers]

When you deliberately skew the reality to add pressure by adding things like 'elimination', or you force people who would never normally associate with each other to work together [for example, Wife Swap], it ceases to be reality.

I agree with you but for all intents, a reality show simply means using people (vs actors) placed in a situation even if it's an artificial situation. I'm not necessarily against competition such as a dance contest or a "great race". Those can be interesting and would qualify as a reality show. Among the weakest are when you follow someone around with a camera like Family Jewels. You may see some hints of their real lives, but they know if their lives are boring, we won't watch. So much for reality. :)

You guys are silly... they're all fake. Pawn Stars, Housewives, American Idol.... everyone of them. It's just entertainment.
