It is. The more you live, the more you can get sick. So if you aren't living, you can't get sick! see? Living is bad for your health. It's a proven medical fact.

Oh... yeah... those thoughts suck. Ive been thinking about that a lot lately, but mostly about my parents...seeing them get older everyday and not being able to do the things they used to do. And today... out of nowhwere... we were sitting in Ruby Tuesdays and my youngest son asks me, "Mommy, is Grandma in heaven". It made me cry. :(

Not really much you can do, I'm afraid. If they were calling you at work you could, but since she does owe them .. they really have every right to call once a day until she pays them. Now if they are calling more than once a day (over here mind you) they are only allowed 1 call per day (if the phone is answered) after 9am and before 9pm. I'm not sure how it works over there though.

Do you not have caller ID? Or Call Blocking? I would call the phone company and request their number be blocked if they are really bothering you .. or I would call them and tell them to quit calling so much.

Cheers for the advice. Unfortunately I went with instinct and said " You've already phoned, fuck off you c***!!!" Well they will keep phoning 10 times a day and there's nothing we can do (as I've told them a hundred times!) till we get paid the few hundred quid the government owes me!

You need to look around online .. there are rules somewhere about how many times a day they can call. They have the right to their money, they don't have the right to harrass you though. There is a line, somewhere.

I did a quick search and here it what I found for our laws:

Q: How may a debt collector contact you? A: A collector may contact you in person, by mail, telephone, telegram or fax. But a debt collector may not contact you at inconvenient times or places, such as before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m., unless you agree. A debt collector also may not contact you at work if the collector knows that your employer disapproves of such contacts.
Q: Can you stop a debt collector from contacting you?

A: You can stop a debt collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the collector telling them to stop. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact, or to notify you that the debt collector or the creditor intends to take some specific action.
Sending such a letter to a collector doesnÂ?t make the debt go away if you actually owe it, though. You could still be sued by the debt collector or your original creditor. Q: What types of debt collection practices are prohibited?

A: Harassment
Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, debt collectors may not:
  • Use threats of violence or harm
  • Publish a list of consumers who refuse to pay their debts (except to a credit bureau)
  • Use obscene or profane language
  • Repeatedly use the telephone to annoy someone
False statements
Debt collectors may not use any false or misleading statements when collecting a debt. For example, debt collectors may not:
  • Falsely imply that they are attorneys or government representatives
  • Falsely imply that you have committed a crime
  • Falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit bureau
  • Misrepresent the amount of your debt
  • Indicate that papers being sent to you are legal forms when they are not
  • Indicate that papers being sent to you are not legal forms when they are
Debt collectors also may not state that:
  • You will be arrested if you do not pay your debt
  • They will seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages, unless the collection agency or creditor intends to do so, and it is legal to do so
  • Actions, such as a lawsuit, will be taken against you, when such action legally may not be taken, or when they do not intend to take such action
Debt collectors may not:
  • Give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit bureau
  • Send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency when it is not
  • Use a false name
Unfair practices Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, collectors may not:
  • Collect any amount greater than your debt, unless your state law permits such a charge
  • Deposit a post-dated check prematurely
  • Use deception to make you accept collect calls or pay for telegrams
  • Take or threaten to take your property unless this can be done legally
  • Contact you by postcard
and from what I can see your laws resemble ours pretty much the same way:

SECTION 40 OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE ACT

"S40 Punishment for unlawful harassment of debtors"
  1. "A person commits an offence if, with the object of coercing another person to pay money claimed from the other as a debt under a contract, he:
    • harasses the other with demands for payment which, in respect of their frequency, or the manner or occasion of making any such demand, or of any threat or publicity by which any demand is accompanied, are calculated to subject him or members of his family or household to alarm, distress or humiliation;
