Speaking of movies, I'm going to watch Bon Cop, Bad Cop in a bit. Bilingual Canadian movies! Yay.

I actually googled that to see what it was about, lol. I'm on a bit of a foreign film/language bent at the moment. It looks interesting and the cast includes, Colm Feore, I loved him in Storm of the Century.:)

I love movies in other languages. Subtitles don't bother me at all. I recently watched a move called "Spare Parts", which was in Slovenian. It was about these men who smuggled Slovenian immigrants into Italiy, if memory serves me. It was quite powerful.

The thing about Bon Cop, Bad Cop is that I won't actually need the subtitles. I speak enough French to follow it. Woop!

I'll have to give Spare Parts a look up. Two of my favourite foreign films at present are Walk On Water and My Teacher, Mr Kim.

Sadly my French is patchy at best.

Whenever I watch movies in subtitles, I remember it in whatever language I was reading it in (usually English). I couldn't repeat exact quotes, because it appears seamless to me. The subtitles go unnoticed to the larger experience.

I grew up in Ottawa, which is right on the border of Quebec, so a lot of people spoke French. I didn't have to take classes in school, because I was technically ESL, but I did take one class in high school, and the rest I picked up through conversation. So my spoken French is very, very patchy, but I do understand it quite well.

amelie ??

love it love it love it

My favourite line is when the narrator is talking about the things Amelie thinks about, such as how many people are having an orgasm, and it flashes across all the people and she turns towards the camera and smiles and says, "Quinze."

I'll have to show my ignorance, but ESL?
