So... back in February, a kid went missing from right near my apartment. He was a student at the college where I went to grad school. It was all over the news. The last place his cellphone signal had been traced was next to the reservoir that's literally across the street to my apartment, so they spent a week dredging the reservoir and found nothing.

This morning, they found a body in the reservoir... they have still not identified the body... but I can't imagine it's NOT him, we live in a pretty safe area so this crime is a HUGE deal...

I just feel a mix of things... a little fear that the kid was killed practically on my doorstep, sadness for his family... also, a little disgusted that there was a body in the reservoir that my drinking water comes from, but that's just a stupid selfish feeling... but geezus, I run around that reservoir all the time :(

Well at least if it is him his family will get some closure. I can't imagine how hard that would be to not know. :(

Yeah I hope they can release some details about what happened soon. It was just such a bizarre thing. It is normally a safe neighborhood, with the college there it's mostly college kids and young professionals. But lately it's been not so good... on top of this, there have been a string of break-ins reported. I'm just kind of hoping it was an accident or something, if it is definitely a murder I will feel a lot less safe walking home at night.

It's been so hard... his mom keeps appearing on the local news, saying that she knows he's still okay and begging him to come home. There are flyers posted EVERYWHERE. It's just so sad. :(

I wonder, if it's him, if he maybe was drunk and fell into the reservoir. Happened to the son of one of my dad's employees years ago.

But do you think it would have taken this long to find the body if it was just a drunken accident? (he went missing in February) He was last seen around midnight the night he went missing, so if it was just an accident, his body would have had to get water-logged enough to sink deep enough to somehow avoid getting found when they had the boats dredging the reservoir. Since people run around that reservoir every single day starting at like 6 or 7 AM, that gives like 6 hours of time for that to happen?

Maybe that's what happened... I don't know :( BF is home right now and says there are news vans everywhere and a CSI van down by the water.

It's possible that he was tangled in something and the body just happened to break free. But you have a valid point...if the reservoir was already dredged, he likely would have been found if he was in there before.
