So, my friend wanted to do dinner at Melting Pot tonight. However, she is unlikely to get out of work till 6, and my boss just told me to leave at 4:30 today. I almost NEVER get to go home early, so I'm kind of torn... I kind of want to ask her to re-schedule so I can go home and do my run early and have some "me" time... but I also don't want to offend her if she was really looking forward to hanging.

Additional considerations weighing in on my decision process:
- It's BF's class night, so Mondays are usually the one night a week I can veg by myself at home, watch the shows I like, and do as I please.
- She lives walking distance from downtown, so for her it's not a big deal to go out. For me, it's a 45 minute train ride home... I can't go home to hang out in between, so I'd literally have to waste time either at the office or in a shop somewhere for an hour and a half.

So.. my question... is it totally rude if I ask her to re-schedule? Would you be offended in her position? I normally hate flaking out, but heading home early sounds so much nicer than going out tonight!

if I was her I would understand as long as it doesn't always happen.
I gave up on trying to make plans I always say I might be there I'll let you know.
and then I straight up say man I feel lazy I just want some couch time how about another day and suggest the new day

No, it's not rude. In this case the benefits of rescheduling far outweight the benefits of not rescheduling. I think, as a friend, she will understand.
