What you got planned for your day/night!? Time dependant of course
It's 0422 hrs where I am right now. I've got another hour before I get off work and then I'm headed to the gym for a while. After that it's sleepy time...woot woot!!! How about you???
Wow, you always this much of an early bird? How many hours sleep you got?
Well it's 09:27am here in the UK! So I'm currently sat at my desk "working"! Then off to the gym, same as you. Then having a second pancake day with some friends!
I've been a night-shifter for 11 plus years now.
I get off work at 0530 in the morning and head straight to the gym from there. By the time I get there, work out, and get back home it's between 0700 and 0730 (depending on how long I stand in the parking lot and talk to my employees before heading to the gym, LOL). I usually get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep.I wish we had pancake day.
Pancakes are awesome...they're so much better than waffles!!! Heh...I am "working" too. It's been quiet for most of the night...the first 3 hours or so were banging, though.I've been a night-shifter for 11 plus years now.
Oh wow, what is it you do exactly if you don't mind me asking? Whats it like working night shifts? Not sure if I could do it, I've worked a few lates at my job and it's messed my body clock up big time, but thats probably because I went home, had a few hours sleep then had to be back for my day shift!
I wish we had pancake day.
Oh do you not have pancake day over there? I feel for you... pancakes are awesome! It's one of the best days of the year for me

I'm a 911 dispatcher. I'm the shift supervisor, so I just sit here and look pretty. :24: Kidding, kidding. I love working night shifts!!! I have always been a night person, though. But as I get older I start to think that maybe a normal 8 - 5 job is what I want. Still can't convince myself to make that leap, though.

Nope, we don't. I think a day for pancakes would be a GREAT idea. I think next year I'll have to make it a point to celebrate!!!

I almost switched to an 8 - 5 but the position was done away w/ 3 days before I was scheduled to have my final interview (I was 1 of the top 4 candidates).Yeh do it! Celebrate pancake day next year on the 12th February like a true Brit would do
February 12th??? I'm gonna assume that was a fat finger mistake and it was supposed to be the 21st. Otherwise you're super late. :24: I think I'll skip Valentines and celebrate Pancake Day instead. Sounds like a plan!!!

Nope! Apparently Shrove Tuesday is the 12th February next year! It's different dates every year in the UK! 21st February this year and was the 8th March last year! Couldn't tell you why

Catholic nerd alert:
Today is the first day of Lent, a traditional period of fasting. "Fat Tuesday" is the last day of indulgence, pancakes are made of ingredients that, traditionally, were given up for the 40 days of Lent.
Lent ends with Easter and Easter's date is determined by the moon...Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring....count back 40 days (excluding Sundays) and you get Ash Wednesday (today). Well, I trust this, I didn't do the math....but that's how I was taught.
OMG....why I felt to return to my days of St. Pat's (Catholic school I attended) is beyond me.

I can tell you why!
The date for Shrove Tuesday is linked to the which day Easter (which is a movable feast) falls on which is why it changes every year. The date for Easter moves depending on the cycle of the moon (it has to be the first Sunday after a full moon) after an equinox. Shrove Tuesday is always 47 days before Easter Sunday.

Every single RE lesson before Easter we would learn about it. It becomes engrained into you after 6 years of studying.
I've already done my baking so now I'm just waiting for my friend to arrive so we can have a MASSIVE lunch. What are you up to today?

What a brilliant idea... Ben & Jerry's ice cream with pancakes! Why on earth did I not think of that... Lucky that I'm celebrating pancake day number 2 tonight! Will be purchasing some Ben & Jerry's ice cream for it now!
