It also refuses to let me type in the date my way in the General format. I don't know why. If I ever meet the person who programmed Excel I shall smack him/her upside the head. Idiot. :mad

I want to meet the one and only person you have met who has not been slapped upside the head :p:24:

You need to change your settings in windows updates. I have mine so that they download but does not require me to reboot until I shut the pc down and thast when they install. I got the updates today too but havnet been prompted to reboot cuz they wont install until I turn off my pc or until 3am I think..
I never turn my laptop off. :ninja This wasn't a Windows update anyway. It was my anti-virus. :p Regardless of when you install them you still have to reboot. This laptop isn't so bad but my old one takes forever and day to reboot. :willy_nilly:

For reasons known only to my hamster Applebee (may he rest in peace), Excel does not have a short date format that puts the month first. I want September 7, 2010 to be 09/07/2010. Instead it does 07/09/2010 or some variation of that. Having the day first just confuses me because I'm not used to writing my dates like that. I've given up completely and I'm just entering the dates in the long format. :surrender
Applebee did not write Excel... why why why is he dead :willy_nilly::ninja:24:

You can set the date to September 7, 2010.. You just need to adjust the Date Format.. :D

I know I can. I wanted the short version, though. It won't let me do a short version with the month first.

Actually, it's weird because I started my spreadsheet over from scratch and it let me put the date in as mm/dd/yy for the first 12 entries. After that it wouldn't anymore. Then it started automatically putting it in a format I didn't want. glavauzid.png

THAT is awesome, I definitely plan on buying one of those!
Bookmark that page...and if anything goes wrong with it they have an awesome return policy with WD. They send you back a bigger HD unlike Dell who sends you the same size but a refurbished one. And you know about refurbished crap right?

If you not only change the Format style but Locale ( location) in the Format Cell location, you can set different option styles..

Different countries language have different types of dates.. You may find one of your liking.. :p
