I gave up smoking 6 months ago after over 10 years :) it's my second try :) I hope a successful one :)
Friends adviced me to read a book regarding 'how to quit smoking' (don't remember the title), but it had only an inverse effect and with the lapse of time I found smoking a useless bad habit that never helps and gets it off my chest :)

By the way, what about anti-smoking plasters and injections? Have they beneficial effect? :) It's interesting to know, I never tried :)

When I was trying to quit I tried using the patches but they just made me feel sick. I think it's because they were putting more nicotine into my system than I was used to seeing I don't smoke much at all anyway. If you are quitting, I still think the inhalers are the best thing. You get the psychological benefits of still putting something in your mouth and you get the instant hit of nicotine too.

i did 3 months till september but when i got to the lower dose patch i went barking mad and had to have a fag to function.
the no smoking nurse said id made a mockery of the system and had no will power, and that people give up sweets....well when i see a person in the street with a sweet in their hand i dont want to knock them to the floor grab the sweet and shove it in my gob.

i am addicted to nicotine ,its more addictive than herion and just goes so well with red wine or a pint,

i will try again next year when life is easier and less stressful:(

congrats and great respect for anyone who has managed to quit

I wouldn't go as far to say it's more addictive than herion. I've had two friends die from heroin overdose, and another friend who is still doing the shit. They would beat the crap out of your grandmother to get one fix.

I believe sport or at least active exercises like jogging, swimming and breathers can make you quit just because after them the lungs turn inside out :)
