Because I would hate to be known as the worst player on any team winning or not!

But it's much so much nicer to win, even if you're the weak link. The fact that you played well isn't much solace if you've lost.
But I'm very competitive. I abhore losing, and will throw all my toys out of the pram

I am too but I would hate to be the crappiest player even more

Worst player on a winning team...because I would assume that everybody else is just SO good that I look bad by comparison, LOL Besides, the med student w/ the lowest GPA is still a doctor when they graduate.
