Its justifiable if he threatens your life at that very second. There is not time for a trial, its then and now, in that second. If we arrest a murderer, there is time to evaluate the "why" and the "how" and there is no need for violence. We can sentence him to prison time without any loss of life.I didn't ask this because I thought you were a pacifist. In fact, I was hoping you would answer the way you did because to say you wouldn't kill in the hypothetical situation would simply be insane.
Here's my point that I want you to consider:
To you (and everyone else on here), taking the life of a would-be murderer who hasn't killed yet is justifiable. But to kill a serial murderer who was convicted in a fair trial by a jury of his peers makes people hypocrites and should be illegal.
Do you see a flaw in this logic? Do you see where I'm coming from?
They aren't one and the same, but I think comparisons can be made.
I don't see how you can compare self defense and the death penalty together.
