question about a bill I just got.

Does anyone have a gas furnace? I just received a 90 dollar bill for 34 days.

59 in usage, 20 for a 'delivery charge', 4 for an interpiping thing and 5 for IN state sales tax.

How is my gas bill 90 bucks for 34 days? Granted the average temperature has been in the 20s-30s, but for a week there it was in the 70s and I had the furnace completely off.

Anyone with a gas furnace how much is it on a normal bill month to month? I'm afraid of gas now, because my water heater, furnace, stove and dryer are gas.

Could some of this be attributed to it running some when i first turned on the gas to get the house warmed up? Cause for the last week of March I had it set to 50 until I moved in, and now it's set at 68 where it hasn't moved.

I don't want to have to deal with all the bills associated with a house or apartment...I think I'm gonna miss that when I get out in 3 months...

I don't care about dealing with the bills, but I think that's a bit excessive.

Is it natural gas? We have it here for everything and is about $80-90. But we don't run the heater much.

That sounds about right. You will be surprised on how much gas you use to heat oven, waterheater, etc. So your bill does sound correct.

Then this means it's only going to go up once the water gets turned on. Because the only thing we're using right now is the furnace. My water heater and dryer are off due to no water for showering or doing laundry, and my stove hasn't been used.

When i lived in an apartment with a gas furnace it would easily cost $100 month during cold months.

However, sometimes gas company's will predict your usuage and charge you for a 'predicted' amount. If they get it wrong they correct it on the next months bill by that amount

Yeah they'll do that if they don't get anyone out to read the meter.
