You're a signalman in a hut one side of a river with a railbridge. Your job is to operate the controls to ensure the bridge rotates to allow trains to pass and then rotates to allow boats to pass.

One evening, you look into the distance and see the dim lights of an approaching train. You push the necessary buttons and the bridge rotates to allow the train to pass.

You're shocked as the bridge doesn't lock firmly in place. You frantically try the buttons to no avail. Running to the other side of the bridge you hold the manual locking lever in place firmly. If you don't - the train will surely plummet into the river with many lives lost.

To your horror you hear a loud cry - "Daddy, where are you?". Your son is running across the bridge trying to find you. He is too far away to hear you frantically shouting to run back.

You have a chance to save your son - or the train. What do you choose?

I'm already at the controls, and it's certain death for the passengers -- kids included -- if I let go, so the train. If I knew it would be certain death for my son, maybe my answer would change, but I taught my kids to have more common sense than that, and since that kind of bridge has to be low, I know mine would have sense enough to jump in the river.

I'm a web designer, of course. You code sites to work right in Firefox, then use conditional comments to kick Internet Exploder into compliance.
