Q Tip for the day

How often do you clean your ears ? Every morning when I get out of the shower. My wife says it is bad for you but I can't help it. Is she speaking the truth ?

I think it depends on the individual. Overcleaning supposedly is not healthy but some of us produce a lot of wax which can hinder our hearing.

I wash them out nearly everytime I am in the shower. I also put olive oil in there sometimes and wash them out again.

I've heard (hardy ha) it softens wax build up. Apparently a lot of expensive ear-drops are made primarily from the rejected produce from the olive-oil industry.

i dont care what they say, i will insert a qtip in my ear to clean it and reach that itch. getting an eargasam is awesome! LOL

after every shower to help get the water out and just whenever i feel the wax is too watery feeling

Yep I agree. My mum is friends with an A&E nurse who says the same thing all the time. Every single day she has several people turn up because they have cotton buds stuck in their ears or have badly damaged them from cleaning them.

It's really bad for ears to have things inserted into them. It can cause problems by pushing wax further into the ear and it can cause inflammation and infections. Ears actually clean themselves quite effectively.

Olive Oil can be useful for wax build up because ears clean themselves using natural oil they create. But, it should only be a couple of drops of oil, too much will cause problems.

I will use a cotton bud around the outside of my ear but I don't ever push it right into the canal.

I am an ear-cleaning FANATIC. Literally, I've been lectured by a med stop physician before for it because I showed up w/ an ear infection and he asked me how often I clean my ears. I cannot STAND to have "wet ears" (that's the best I can describe it) so I always clean w/ a Q-tip right out of the shower and then use my towel to further dry the ear canal. Hey, I already admitted to being a fanatic.

Somedays I use peroxide on the Q-tip to clean my ears, too. :unsure:

Most of the time I just wrap a wet washcloth around my finger, but occasionally I'll use a Q-tip.

My hubby gets earwax a lot. He really does need to clean his ears daily. I have never had an ear ache and I clean my ears with Q-tips most days, but I don't put them deep in the ear canal.

yes use something to get in there to get it clean just be careful
make sure the cotton on the q tip is not coming apart before you put it in there
dont by the cheap q tips they dont put enough cotton on them and use plastic sticks that will scratch your ears
people who think that just swabbing the ear hole is good enough are wrong
its best to keep the canal clear and clean
dont use bobby pins to clean your ears like my mom did me it freakin hurts but she never poked my ear drum thank fully
