or more so Xubuntu... Is it hard to have one operating system (Win7) on one partition and Xubuntu on another? I want to install it outside of Windows but I don't want to lose my Windows as it came on this computer and I don't have the cd.

I know we have been down this path before.. :willy_nilly:

Put Ubuntu on a disc to boot off of to start with.. It will at minimum give you an idea if you want or like to use it..

Fantastic as the last thing I would want is for you to mess up a bread winner device you use. Rather safe than sorry.

No it's not hard. But make sure you read the official ubuntu documentation : https://help.ubuntu.com/
There are a couple of pitfalls for potential idiots to fall into, but you can't go wrong if you follow the documentation to the letter.

Ever since I put Xubuntu on a partition every time I reboot it says "Mode Not Supported". Anyone ever get this?

Might check the bios
there are some computers that you have to turn on a feature like multi boot

I think I did something wrong... It doesn't say loading GRUB. I loaded XZubuntu from the live cd and did it that way.

my bad f12 brings me up to my boot screen but it doesn't give me a daul boot option. I know Everything is still on my computer because i can see bthe directory in Xubuntu. I just can't access it by booting Windows.

F2 or ESC ( escape ), DEL ( Delete ) should be the one to bring you to BIOS.. In BIOS you should have the option to set up for DUAL Boot up.. It maybe in a Sub Menu where you have to select a item and go into a sub menu..

I looked in the bios and couldn't see a dual boot option. I'll look again. What menu would it be under?
