I grew some pumps last year with Fuel, it was quite an event...

they started like "oh how cute little plants!"

then they grew and grew and grew, and took over my back yard :/

I got tons of babies on the vine after Fuel taught me how to hand fertilize them!

Then my daughter decided to stab them all :(
yup, STAB them

We went to Boston for a few days, and then rabbits ate most of the rest of them :(

In the end, after all the work, and all the space... I got 2 pumpkins

One orange one, and one white one... if you look closely, you can still see the surviving stab marks on the white one

So I told Fuel it was too much work, for too little, and I wasn't going to try it again this year. Then when I was watering the tomatoes (on the side of the house) the other night... I saw what I thought was a pumpkin flower, I bent down took another look and low and behold an ENTIRE pumpkin vine had grown behind the a big tree right on the corner of my house! I suddenly remembered when my little pumpkins had gotten soggy on my stoop, I tossed them behind this tree and well... I guess I'm growing some pumps again this year. Here it is so far :D

That one looks like it is ready to really start spreading out. They are fun to raise but they go everywhere, even through the fence around our garden.

We pick the nicer ones and turn the chickens loose in the garden in the fall. They love to work at them and anything else that is left.
