Dreek Lass, can I ask what helped you with your anxiety? It's probably a personal question, but I've suffered with anxiety since I was a little girl and no meds have helped me.

And I don't use public transportation because there isn't much public transportation around here. Buses stop running at a certain time and they only run every hour, so it's difficult to rely on public transportation around here.

If public transportation were available, I most likely WOULD NOT use it because of my anxiety. I work from home, so don't need transportation much, and when I do need it, my boyfriend drives me around to where I need to go when he does his errands.

If I can avoid it I will. I usually drive to everywhere that I need to go. It's funny because when I went on vacation in June to Miami,Fl my friends and I took the bus and metro rail everywhere. I have no idea why we didn't rent a car or use the taxi, maybe because we needed all our money to eat and drink lol.

lol I hear you.. if I wouldn't look like a complete fool, I'd wear body condoms wherever I go lol. Disease will bring us down again, I'm sure of it...

Hahahaha! Full body condoms? Lol! I love it. I would certainly invest in one of those. I have heard some horror stories about the train, trust me. People being vomited on or ejaculated on. Just absolutely disgusting. I never touch the door handles in my house because my mother and her boyfriend probably have sex and don't bother to wash their hands after. They could touch anything. I know that men aren't particularly bothered about sex germs. They see it as nothing, but I don't want to ever expose myself to any dried bodily secretions.

Here in the country of Nicaragua where I live, Public transport is really cheap so it is almost a no brainer to take it! For almost 4 years now me and my Dad have traveled all over the country using Public transportation and have really had no problems. I guess in some places it might not be a good idea as it is not always the safest way to go but personally I am fine with taking public transportation.

Wow, there seem to be a few issues or fears on various topics in this thread. Most will know the medical profession is becoming increasingly worried about over-use of antibiotics and the proliferation of antibiotic resistent bacteria. Another thing that is causing concern is the breakdown of peoples immune systems. With all the household cleaning agents that kill "99% of all household germs" and the population becoming so paranoid about "germs" immune systems are not operating as they should do. When a body is invaded by some alien bacteria the immune system is so inactive that it allows these bacteria to get a hold causing greater problems. No, don't go with the flow, germs are good.....to a point.

Public transportation here in Portugal are super-expensive, I don't know what's the logic in that. If they want to take the traffic out of the city they should bring the prices down...

I know, how you feel. I have to take public transportation all of the time. I don't drive, at all. The cost is way too high. My son, who is 15, doesn't like it at all. I try to his mind off all the people. He get overwhelmed with crowds.

Amused that so many people think that public transport is 'dirty', without acknowledging that they are part of the problem.

When I was younger, we used the British public transport system to its fullest.....and yet we didn't die.

Different proposition here in New Zealand, public transport is nonexistent outside of the major cities, but whenever I fly to town it's much easier to take public transport than deal with the hassles of trying to navigate and find parking in town.

In my location, owning a car is a luxury. I don't mind taking public transportation. I mainly take MTR (subway) and buses. They are packed with people in peak hours. But I get used to it.

I dislike using the public transit system. But since I'm still learning how to drive, I occasionally have no choice but to use public transportation. In particular, when I'm alone, it makes me anxious. Furthermore, it is inconvenient to commute here. A few public transportation vehicles are outdated, provide insufficient air conditioning, and frequently become jam-packed, among other drawbacks.

I recognize that taking public transit might be uncomfortable and inconvenient for you, especially if you are nervous about going alone. It is normal to feel this way, and it is OK to do so. However, I can assure you that there are steps you can take to improve your public transportation experience.
