I have always hated taking public transpiration. I suffered with an anxiety disorder for the entirety of my life up until the point that I was eighteen, and finally decided to go to the doctors and get some help for it. I hated using buses and would get dry mouth and heart palpitations - not to mention the sweating. It was a nightmare. But now that I have gotten rid of my social anxiety, I still despise public transport. Trains, buses, taxis. I just don't like them.

For one the germs put me completely off, and you can run into any psycho on them.

Does anyone else feel the same?

I have a bit of social anxiety and find public transport difficult. I have a car but only use buses when I have to. I would like to use trains, I'd like to travel to places on a train but I have a huge fear of train station platforms for some reason so that sort of stops me. I'm hoping to get over my fears though.

I do feel the same when it comes to catching the bus. It is full of germs and strangers. I don't like having to sit so close to another individual because I don't know if their clothes are clear or if a bug will jump on me from them. I know it sounds stupid, but it is true. I had to take the bus for a few weeks until we got another vehicle and I would take my coat, shoes, and pants ( I had on long-johns, LOL) off on the outside porch before entering my home. I had hand sanitizer out there too so I can wash my hands. After that time, I swore not to ever have to catch the bus again.

I have a bit of social anxiety but I just do it, go there and what ever it takes.
One of my things is I start to think, "Am I walking funny?". My knees start to shake and I speak very softly to people.

I don't really mind public transport, I like that it saves me money and I can zone out and read a book, unlike when I'm driving. I hate the public transport here in Atlanta, though. It's very inefficient, it's not even worth using.

I hate the public transportation in the place where I live, because the new buses have very few seats and they're always really full. It's so hard to find a seat, and then getting up to finally get off the bus can be such a challenge. I try to avoid public transportation as much as possible, but I actually found the public transportation in Norway to be super efficient. I actually enjoyed using the public transportation there, specially taking the bus! The buses were so comfy and clean. If I lived there I'd definitely use it everyday.

Yes I relate very much with this also. I have suffered anxiety best part of my life too. I have social anxiety which means public places are challenging. I am usually not too bad on buses, not unless they are packed. I particularly hate when the bus is packed and someone sits on the seat that directly faces you. It's fair enough if it's someone you know, but a total stranger? it doesn't leave much room to put your eyes, and that's pretty awkward. In the area I live, if someone notices you look anxious they will usually go out their way to make it worse for you. I'm glad I don't have to take a train often, I can't imagine having to travel on the London Underground with my nose pressed to the window each morning...

I don't mind public transport, it's a lot better than when I was at school.

The only thing I really don't like is people that put their feet on the seats or listen to music obnoxiously loud.

I hate public transport. It does not matter how good or how great the service can be, the fact that it is for the public is something that i would not be interested in. I think that the other thing for me is that i like my freedom and anything that takes you away from freedom i hate.

I dislike having to put up with any crowd, especially when you sit so close to each other you have to touch other people. Makes me cringe. But usually I put earphones on, blast my favourite music and stare at landscape I'm passing. It might be not much of help but maybr you could try listening to music while commuting? It doesn't take people away but at least they don't try to bother you and time passes quickly.

Public transport is great, except during rush hour when you are crammed in like sardines, made even worse in summer when someone is running to the station covered in sweat and stinks out the whole carriage. Then in winter people are sneezing and coughing all over you. Otherwise ok!

I have taken public transportation because I don't have a car. I don't use it everyday, only when I need to go far. I usually walk to where I want to go since most stores are close to my house.

I don't mind taking public transportation, since I haven't driven a vehicle, or more specifically, I don't like driving. When traveling to and from within the same region, I usually take the bus. The fares will vary depending on how far you are going, and it also depends on the heavy volume of traffic in the streets.

When it comes to crowds, germs etc.. I really don't see that as an unjustified anxiety. I don't see many things as unjustified anxieties. I think we should all do what we can to not let anything hold us back, so if it greatly affects your life, then do something to help yourself, but otherwise, nothing wrong with avoiding it. I hate busses.. I haven't beenn on one since I was 17 and I likely will never step foot on one again. The germs.. omg! lol. The people, the close proximity. I even hated the doors in the back that snagged more than it's share of victims lol. Not an entirely fun place to be. I don't mind other forms of public transportation.. but the small talk in a cab annoys me too.

It doesn't matter how clean public transport appears tot he naked eye. I know that strangers with different values as to what hygiene is have been on the transport, and that they could have done anything on it. I keep my hands to myself, because I kind of hate people and I don't want to contract any diseases from anything that I may touch on public transport.

I have taken to just not going anywhere unless I have a life lol.

When I was still in my native country I seldom ride in a public transportation. Now that I am living in a different country already this is my problem I am afraid to ride in a subway, express train, bus and taxi and up to now I am not trying to experience it since my husband always drives for me where ever we go.

I have always hated taking public transpiration. I suffered with an anxiety disorder for the entirety of my life up until the point that I was eighteen, and finally decided to go to the doctors and get some help for it

I began to suffer anxiety disorder but due to driving a car. In this city traffic is like hell and you may spend a whole day stuck in the middle of it when you could go from such point to your destination in 15 minutes walking.

So that, the only way to control that stressing situation was exactly the opposite, I put the car aside and began to use the public transport network, which is pretty good in this city with countless options to move around; subway, buses, trolleys, trains, bike-taxis, taxis, etc. etc.

However many times I find more enjoyable walking from one place to another even if it involves several walking hours, only that I may not always have the time to walk long distances.
