Many products for personal cleansing are advertised as "flushable". However, simply because the commode will take them doesn't mean that the sewer system will break it down. The fibrous wipes do not break down. They find something to wrap the,selves around and wait to collect more stuff until the line is plugged. I have been called to many backups in our city system and found just such things were the problem.

Septic tanks do not breakdown feminine hygeine product either.

Nothing does. A lot of the fibrous material contain plastics.

I'll attest to that. We had to have Roto Rooter out to our duplex and tampons were all over the rental side. We told them they'd better throw them in the trash or the next time they'd be paying the bill. Havn't had to call them again.

Funny, though, most people don't think about such things.
