coupla things - to back up Blackwater on his tithe comment,
i agree - the monies that the bible says you should give to whomever (sometimes to the clergy, sometimes to the needy, etc..) does not 'buy you' anything. it is just a religious responsiblity. what im getting at is that real, monotheistic religion is not to be taken as a 'way to get into heaven' or whatever - rather, it is someone taking upon themselves a responsiblity (meaning, if you believe in a god that created you and everything, you have certain duties to him/her/it, same as to a parent. so the things you need to do as a religious individual are not to be understood as being in 'exchange' for anything.
and as far as staying sorta on topic,
i dont generally believe in psychics the way they are portrayed in todays society, since those guys are knows to be shams (the way joe described - youd be surprised how easy it is to look like you know what youre talking about when you really know nothing - ever read a horoscope, or a forttune cookie for that matter?) but the truth is, you can never really rule it out, because there are always things peolpe dont understand. meaning, years ago, the world was flat, and there was NO WAY that the moon was really a big rock miles up in the sky. there was also no WAY atoms could be broken down any more, and it was impossible to think that there were more than 4 dimensions. now all of those things are true, and there is no reason there arent more things we assume to be impossible but are really right in front of our faces. what does this amount to as far as a response goes? i dont believe in it right now, but it never hurts to keep an open mind
