Why should anybody try? Nothing anybody says will possibly sway you so the purpose of this thread is to bait people into expressing their beliefs just so you can bash them.
You really that bored?

Thats not the point of this thread. The point of this thread is for young earth creationists to present their hard evidence of their belief, and to see if it stands up to actual science.

Well, seeing as how this is a thread you wished to debate with.

Let's see your spin. What scientific eveidence do you have to dis-prove?

And, just so you do not think I am being ugly with you, understand that there is volumes of scientific theory that totally contradicts the "young earth" theory.

That I am totally aware of. As a matter of fact, what I think to be the most accurate lends to the concept that our planet, and all its environs have developed over millions of years.

i loved the film you posted and it should be posted here too.this should not become christian bashing you are dealing with a minority group of christians who hold these believes ..as i understood it huckabee said he beieved genesis metaphorically

Is God A Delusion: Has Science Disproved God? by Nicky Gumbel | Holy Trinity Brompton

this is the man who was responsible for my conversation three years ago,its long but very witty .intruder will love it and you might enjoy it if you would be good enough to sit through it...debxxx

many christians prefer to view genesis 1 as a literary device,a poetic form, which is not necessarily connected with chronological events in history.it is a prescientific and non scientific account of creation dealing with matters outside the scope of science.poetic language can be true without being literally true.when the psalmists wrote the world is established,it cannot be moved (psalm93:1)he was using poetic image, but galileos opponents took it literally and argued that the earth was stationary and that that the theories of the earth orbiting the sun were wrong.christians feel that in the same way the early chapters of genesis should not be taken literally.

creationists are a small minority ,some in cults such as the jehovahs witnesses and fundamentalists who are a misguided.

You know I totally respect you, but here's a question for you: Who/What created Science?

i quite agree ron,on the other thread in politics i posted a dead long thingy which took me ages to cut and paste with the for arguaments and the answers from the nerdy science blokes ,,,,and neither took any notice of it.
im now having to mug up on hermaneutics (which hurts my brain) and theyve both gone quiet.

i would also add that since this is my faith theyre arguing about and im not a nutter, im looking forward to the next instalment..but where are they?i do love them both though:)

Some people like asking questions because they honestly want to know...some people ask questions simply because they're ignorant.

I for one don't think we will ever be able to definitely prove intelligent design or the theory of evolution. I think that this thread would be better titled "Is the earth 6000 years old?"
That is a point that I believe can be totally disproved.
Like Debbie pointed out, not all Christians take the book of Genesis literally and believe the heavens and the earth were created in 6 days, 6000 years ago. But for those who DO believe that, I would like to hear what science backs that up.

I know from everything I have seen, heard, and learned, there is no way that I can be convinced that the earth is only 6000 years old. There is way too much evidence to support an earth that is millions of years old....
Even if were to only look at the stars for the answer... If the earth is 6000 years old, how is it possible to see stars that are over 6000 light years away?

And for the record...

AEF, this was a terrible way to start a thread. How can you ever expect intelligent conversation and debate when you throw out a question with no though or consideration behind it?
If you truly want to get answers or you want to effectively debate the topic, then put some time and energy behind a thoughtful question....

Just my $.02

Well put Tim. I consider myself to be strong in the Christian faith, but to think that the earth is only 6000 years old is foolish.

I personally beleive in the "Big Bang" theory...I just beleive that it was God that started it off.
