Prostitution... Should it be legal?

I just watched a movie last night that was based on a true story about a massage therapy business in Texas that was a little more than just giving massages. ;) They got busted and didn't do much time because they gave up their clients names. Don't know what happened to the clients though.

So as a woman I believe that we have the right to do whatever we want with out bodies. I think that in Nevada or just outside the limits of Las Vegas there is some form of it that's legal.

So what do you all think? Should prostitution be legal? And why is it illegal?!?!?

Doesn't make sense to allow abortion because a woman's body is hers to control, but then outlaw prostitution :dunno

If someone choose to do this then why not be legal

only is bad prostitution that been force to people or for under age

many people find it bad but it is an old profession ..i don't see anything wrong with it as long the person want to do this ..

I could care less if people wanna be prostitutes. They can do what they want. I won't be going to visit one anytime soon so aslong as it doesn't affect me I don't really give a damn

Make it legal and it brings in more tax for the government, gets rid of street walkers and illegal prostitution rings from Eastern Europe more easily plus is safer for all involved.

Remember, if porn didn't have a camera, it would be prostitution ;)

Seriously though, I think it should because it would help the safety of the workers because of the legality of the brothels etc.

Plus traffickers would lose out because you would have to have a license. If you aren't licensed to work in wherever then you wouldn't get a license.

how would they regulate that for taxes, thats where I think the government has its nose in it God forbid they lose out on some tax dollars. Also dont you think STDs should be considered in a profession like that? That could be a big problem if there isnt some caution to that I dont want to be paying for someone dying from AIDS

They use condoms.;) Besides, if they had to register, the'd be under health and safety laws and therefore much safer than all the illegal ones which the government cant control which exist everywhere, already.

They do all this in Holland, it's perfectly easy. You can't become a prostitute without a health and STD test

If I am not mistaken there has never been a case of aids in a Nevada brothel

Legalize it

I am friggin horny and don't want to have to fly to Nevada. :D

Plus the damn rates are too friggin high out there. Sorry but $800 for an hour of sex is a bit much

I could drive a half hour and go to Canada where escorts are allowed to do as they choose.

How would that get rid of the prostitution rings from Eastern Europe? I think it would make it worse rather than better, it will only encourage those people who are desperate for money, either those in debt or wanting drugs to resort to such things, would it not?

Fair enough, it will make it safer, which I don't want to see what happened in Ipswich a few years ago, or what Jack the Ripper did, but it wouldn't make 100% safe

If there was legal brothels around, punters would be far more likely to use them than illegal ones and push them out of business

well if a girl really wants to prostitute, she should be able to.
as long as she knows all the deseases and potention voilent/murderous men she can encounter.

I never understood the whole 'Pimp' thiing, why do hookers alwasy need a pimp? the girls seem to be losing more money with a pimp.

I think that should be the case here in the US. I really don't see any reason why it should be illegal. Women should have the legal right to do whatever they want with their bodies and if it's regulated like this then it would sure cut down on on HIV and STDs. As far as Pimps go not all prostitues have pimps and the ones that do are just weak. Protection from pimps for 3/4 of their intake my ass...
